OCTOBER 2013
PARTICIPANT GENERAL
INFORMATION No 1
GAMES: This
year, the Games are being held in Surfers Paradise, Queensland and again
over 40 Universities and 6000+ students will be gathering to compete in
this great University sporting event.
La Trobe Sports is the
authorising body for organising and registering teams/individuals
participating in all AUS events and we facilitate this process to ensure La
Trobe is represented appropriately, that all students have an opportunity
to participate in the most cost effective, safe and exciting sporting
events. La Trobe students across all Campuses maybe eligible to participate
in AUS events.
The aim of participating in
the University Games is to achieve sporting performance and the best
possible outcome for your team and the University. All students are to
represent La Trobe at a consistently high level for the duration of the
Games. There is a social element to the Games, but that is incidental to
achieving the best possible result.
Note that interested
students must attend at least ONE training session to be considered
for selection in a team. La Trobe Sports can assist students from Regional
Campuses to attend this initial training session.

and Sports Manager will be responsible for the final selection, which will
based upon the highest skill level available to form the best competitive
team and to perform to their best ability.
Participants in individual
sports must meet AUS individual criteria/qualifying times prior to being
considered for selection. Where appropriate, participants will be requested
to provide verification of official competition times.
ACCOMMODATION: It is a
policy that all participants must stay as a team in accommodation organised

submitted by the Sports Manager and approved, team members can proceed to
make travel arrangements, which then must be verified by the Sports

strongly discourage student from driving personal vehicles due to fatigue,
particularly on the return trip. Transport from the airport to the Hotel

the Games due to issues of personal safety, unfamiliarity of the host City

There is currently substantial road works occurring on the Gold Coast which
will cause significant delays and the benefit of using local transport
system.

the selection and the Coach and Sports Manager will be requested to
nominate a replacement.
If less
than half of the team fails to pay the deposit by the due date, La Trobe
Sports will not register the team to participate in the AUG. This means all
